8 things you didn't know about me

Sweet! I love stuff like this. Bmart tagged me on the "Eight Things" meme - so here goes.

1. I was born in Bangkok; my dad is Thai and my mom is French, and we speak French at home.

2. With a background like that, you can guess that I am a real foodie. I like almost every kind of ethnic cuisine, and will try almost anything once. The spicier the better.

3. I drive like a crazy Parisian driver - because that is basically what I am, despite having never actually lived in Paris for longer than 3 months.

4. I have three cats, two we brought back from Edinburgh (Neo and Trinity), one we got here (Marley - he had a name already otherwise I would have called him Morpheus), but all three are black and white and look the same.

5. I am anti-religious but consider myself to be fairly spiritual. I am also superstitious, but black cats bring me good luck.

6. I have had many jobs: I was a merchandiser (eg creating displays) for Conrans Habitat, a deep house music club promoter in London, I taught fine arts grad students how to market their work at the Royal College of Art in London, and if I had stayed in Edinburgh I would have become a lawyer for a big financial services company, because I was a legal assistant and they wanted to pay for me to do a law degree - which is pretty much the LAST thing on my list of things I ever thought I would be doing as a career.

7. I have been lucky enough to travel a lot, but the one place which blew my mind the most, Sydney, Australia, (where my sister-in-law is from and where she and my brother got hitched) was somewhere that was not at all on my radar of places I wanted to go. Now I dream of going back.

8. I have two masters degrees, in art history and Postwar and Contemporary Art, and my dream would be to run an arts association one day!
