Tagged again!

YAPstar and blogger bud Maggie McGary tagged me on her awesomely titled blog, Mizz Information.

I know a lot of people hate memes, but I still like doing them, if only because it enables me to spread some link love.

So.. five more things you (possibly) didn't know about me... hmmmm. I'll keep this short:

1) I speak French fluently. As in with my parents. But they have been here in DC for 34 years so we speak pidgin French with hundreds of English words sprinkled in. My political, business, governmental, or computing vocabulary is nonexistent - but I can still pass.

2) Despite my love of driving I only got my license at age 27 and didn't actually start driving until I was 32. (No-one has a car in London.) W00t!

3)My dad worked for the International Monetary Fund and we traveled a lot when I was growing up, including a stint in West Africa (Lome, Togo) for 3 years. Then I lived in the UK for 14 years. Now? I just want to stay home - or maybe go to the beach. (My bumper stickers? BB/RB - Bethany Beach (Delaware) for family time, Rehoboth for my youth...)

4) My little boy Jackson is named after Jackson Pollock and has an amazing eye for painting and drawing; my daughter Bo is named after Hamilton Bohannon and loves dancing and music. Apparently names do channel...

5) The only sport I get really worked up about is football (I mean soccer) - my team is DC United, obviously, and I Can.Not.Wait for the 2010 World Cup. (And when France won in '98 - oh man. Awesome.)

So as I was writing this, I thought, our little association blogoclump has really blown up in the past year or two, to become a pretty big blogosphere in itself. So maybe this would be a good moment to tag a few of the original clumpers so they can tell their newer subscribers and fellow blogger buddies a little bit about themselves! Ha! Whaddaya think of that!

So hereby tagging:

1. Jeff "The Godfather" De Cagna
2. Jamie "Fogdirog" Notter
3. Kevin "Bah Humbug" Holland : )
4. Cynthia "Raindrop's mom" D'Amour
5. Wes "Big Brain" Trochlil

There are many more, of course, and I specifically did not list Ben "The RSS of Associations" Martin because he's said a few times he refuses to do these anymore, but I think this is a great opportunity for you guys to re-introduce yourselves to our ever-growing association readership! Thanks babes!

  1. Yay--thanks for doing it! I love your facts--especially the driving part. Awesome that you didn't get your license until then!

Next time the French relatives are staying with us I'm going to have to bribe you up to Olney so they'll have someone to talk to! Last summer one poor girl was here for days and I could hardly say a word to her.

  3. Hey, Maddie, keep an eye on your artist kid. One of mine is obsessive about art, photography, and film but doesn't always think it's important to finish history, math, or science homework on time (if ever).

    Enjoy!

  4. Maddie, thanks for the tag (I think...). But "Big Brain"? It makes me think of this guy: Big Brain

I decided to plan another round with you. Just posted at http://cynthiadamour.com/2008/11/30/the-game-goes-on/

Thanks for inspiring a fun post.

  6. Bah humbug. I already responded to this when you tagged me with pretty much the same meme last January:

I would try to come up with five more things if I could, but I'm a pretty boring person and at this point I would probably be reduced to things like "I work for associations but don't like joining things" or "I'm going to Prague this spring ... but you already know that."
