Tweaking email settings in popular social networks

My buddy Jared Goralnick of TechnoTheory has some really nice, short and sweet video tips for tweaking your email settings within Facebook, LinkedIn, Plaxo and Twitter.

Now, I consider myself to be pretty clued-in on all this stuff, but I found these really helpful as a reminder that as a default, these networks are set up to send you lots of unnecessary stuff. You can turn everything off except the things you really want to know immediately, like direct messages. A good example is Facebook - if you log in to Facebook relatively frequently, say weekly, then you really don't need an email in your inbox every time someone tags you in a photo or posts a note or whatever - you'll see all of your updates every time you log in. Another example is Twitter - if you set up your phone to get direct messages, then why would you need an additional email notification? Simple, but smart.

Thanks Jared!
