I think I'm going to take notes like this from now on.

I heart Rob Cottingham. These are his notes on Clay Shirky's talk at NTC. Rob, what do you use to get this online? a Bamboo tablet? So frackin' awesome.

A "slate" Tablet PC is great for taking notes like that in meetings. I've used slates from Motion Computing for four years and take notes in Microsoft OneNote.

Since OneNote can search handwriting, I can quickly find notes from years ago.

Now, if I could draw as well as Rob I'd be all set!

You're all way too kind - thanks!

If Apple ever comes out with a decent tablet, I'll be all over it. As it is, I'd love a Cintiq (it would help with the cartooning, too)... but that's a ways into my future.

For this, I just used a Pigma Micron marker and a good old-fashioned sketchbook. Since my hotel room lacked a scanner (no Cintiq? no scanner? no Mac Pro? Really, Hilton - why not just give us stone slabs and leaves to sleep on!?) I just shot each cartoon with my handy-dandy SLR, tidied 'em up in Photoshop (Preview would have done the job too) and uploaded them.

Sketchbook + camera has served me surprisingly well over the last few years. Makes it hard for me to make the case for a Cintiq, but it won't stop me from trying...
