However, I think that the idea of an innovation award might actually draw in those people (maybe younger members, too, although not exclusively) who feel normally fairly unengaged. However I have heard from a number of associations lately that their awards programs are really struggling and they are having a hard time getting people to either submit nominations or put themselves up for an award. Lack of nominees leads to lackluster winners and an overall decrease in the value of the awards program.
